Sun, Beer, Good Company, and Some Cracking Music!
What an absolute belter of a day! Spongefest, the local music festival that completely took over Worksop Rugby Club in Nottinghamshire on the 14th of June 2025, was nothing short of brilliant. It was all for a great cause, too, with every single penny of the proceeds being generously donated to the fantastic mental health charity, ‘In Sam’s Name’. That always makes the beer taste even better, doesn’t it?
We were treated to a proper feast of sounds spread across two dedicated stages. It was a brilliant mix, showcasing some genuinely talented up-and-coming local artists who held their own beautifully. But let’s be honest, the tribute acts were the big draw! We had massive hits from the likes of Oasis, the cool swagger of the Arctic Monkeys, the soulful sound of Amy Winehouse, and to round things off and get everyone moving, the excellent ska scene coverage delivered by the brilliant band, ‘The Moderators’.
And speaking of The Moderators, if you were there, you’ll know the legend Phil Daniels (of Quadrophenia fame) was milling about, throwing his support behind them. A proper celebrity endorsement for a proper band!
The whole day was just good fun, pure and simple. The majority of the music was top-notch, the sun decided to show up and stay, and the atmosphere was absolutely brilliant—everyone was buzzing! Crucially, the beer was fairly priced, so naturally, we all took full advantage of that particular detail. A massive success and a thoroughly enjoyable day from start to finish!
